MHS incident update as of 2:50 pm

Dear Medway families,

We are writing to update you on the situation at Medway High School.  We continue to be safe and secure and the Medway Police are taking the necessary time to support the investigation.  The lockdown has been in place as a result of threats that we received.

We are in the process of readying our students for dismissal.  Students riding buses will be dismissed first.  Student drivers will be dismissed next. Once students riding buses and driving themselves have departed, families will be directed into the typical pick up location.    As a reminder, all after school activities, including athletics, have been canceled. We will continue to keep you apprised and thank you for your understanding and patience during what certainly must feel very unsettling.

The message that we sent earlier can be found below:

We are writing to share that Medway High School is currently in lockdown due to an investigation that we are engaged in, in partnership with the Medway Police Department.  All students and staff are safe in their classrooms and we are not able to share additional information with you at this time.  We are sending this message to alert you and will keep you apprised as we approach student dismissal.  No cars or individuals are able to enter or exit the school at this time.

We know that this is unsettling and promise that we will keep you apprised.  Our student and staff safety is our primary concern.  Out of an abundance of caution and to allow for a full investigation, will be canceling all after school activities including athletics and will alert you should there be any changes to student dismissal time or procedures.

Sincerely,

Armand Pires
